TRC20 vs TRON

Wallet Safety

A TRON address (starting with 'T') can receive both TRX and TRC20 tokens. TRC20 addresses use the Base58Check format, which is readable, copy-paste friendly, and has error-detection built in. The critical safety rule: the sending platform's selected network must match the receiving platform's supported network, every time. Selecting the wrong network can strand your funds permanently.

One of the most common errors is choosing the wrong withdrawal network on an exchange. If a platform expects USDT on TRON (TRC20) and you select ERC20, the deposit may not credit automatically — and sometimes cannot be recovered. A wallet can receive a TRC20 transfer successfully and still not show the balance if it isn't tracking that specific token contract.
